Palo Alto, CA
This project for the Palo Alto Christian Reformed Church explores a new, shared multi-congregational hub to anchor an underutilized gravel lot on their existing campus. Tasked with providing a Site Feasibility Study and cost analysis, our firm laid the groundwork for a space that supports the high-frequency worship and logistical needs of three distinct congregations.
Our proposed design offers a contemporary expression of sacred space with an iconic, steeply-pitched gable roof and a bright white stucco finish. To ensure seamless transitions between Sunday services, an expansive paver plaza with integrated seating and landscaping serves as a vital fellowship area directly outside the transparent, recessed glass entrance.
Inside, the light-filled sanctuary comfortably seats up to 200 people with flexible layouts and acoustics tailored for both spoken word and intimate concerts. At dusk, integrated LED lighting along the building's base creates a floating, ethereal effect, beautifully emphasizing the structure's minimalist geometry while enhancing site safety for evening gatherings.
